Karastan Introduces Kara-Corner

DALTON, GA, April 1, 2008—In today’s homes, the staircase has become a focal point that rarely runs straight up. One, if not more, 90-degree landings intersect the stairs as they wind up to the second floor. The decorating potential of this once overlooked area has given rise to numerous patterned runners, which typically have borders. These runners work great on a straight staircase, but cause major installation headaches when a staircase turns.

Karastan solves this dilemma with a ready-made introduction called Kara-Corner, which is woven in one continuous piece. The L-shaped section is serged on the sides and unfinished on both ends, so it can be easily trimmed for quick installation.

“The idea to create Kara-Corner came from a conversation I had with Sam Martin, Installation Director at Russell Martin in Naperville, IL”, says Bill Storey, Senior VP and General Manager of Karastan. “He described the installation problems they were having and sketched an idea on paper. We sent Sam material to create a prototype of his vision and are now introducing it as a running line product.”

“Depending on the intricacies of a pattern, it can take us from 6 to 20 hours to create a custom corner piece for a customer,” explains Martin. Karastan listened and responded to our needs with a solution that saves time and money. Equally important, Kara-Corner ensures consistent quality that all retailers can sell with confidence.”

Kara-Corner is offered in Cambridge Red from Karastan’s popular English Manor Collection. It is woven in Eden, NC of 100% fully worsted, New Zealand wool and offers superior wear, resilience and performance benefits that make it an exceptional choice for any staircase.
